strong

It's been a hard week. I cannot lie, nor do I wish to hide. But I intend to keep this place one of both inspiration and void of the darkness that goes hand in hand with my imminent divorce. So that may mean that I slip away now and then. To embrace the DEPTHS for what they are... resisting doesn't pay off. So I let the waves crash over me. I ALWAYS surface. Stronger and more resilient each time. And then I will come visit you here bearing pearls, hugs and kisses!

I am so grateful for the life lines that have been cast my way. So many lines, in fact, that they have formed a net to hold me while I travel deep to my inner core. Transitions often call for personal excavation. The bigger the life change, the more potential there is to discover who we truly are. I have been working with Pixie Campbell in her Soulodge all year and have found it to be just what I've needed to gain clarity and strength to begin the process of reinventing myself and my family. This summer's session is all about finding your strong and vital voice with whale as our guide. I have always loved whales! Such gorgeous, ancient mammals.I decided that I needed to carry her message with me. As always...
I mixed some making pleasure with a bit of utility and lots of symbolism.

. . . .
I will be teaching how to paint, print, sew, and make recycled Tyvek zippered pouches at Teahouse Studio in Berkeley at the end of the month (July 28th).  I am totally thrilled, honored and excited that Pixie will be joining us for some "making pleasure with a bit of utility and lots of symbolism".  Oh, yes! It's going to be an amazing day and we'd love you to join us. Bay Area folks check here for all of the details. I will also be doing a meet and greet book signing that evening that is free and open to the public! Can't wait to see you!

  11. Maya, this may sound odd coming from someone you have never met, but I totally believe that you are indeed on the path that is best for you in the long run. As painful as it feels today, you will see the reason why this change had to happen. I have always believed that everything happens for a reason and I have always been able to figure out why eventually. Keep believing in yourself, you may not need to be as "strong" to survive this as you think?
Remember you are still healing, be gentle on yourself. You will always have all of us to help you through the rough times.
    xoxo

  14. I learned, a few years ago, that in the traditional Tongan religion, whales are thought of as the go-between between the spiritual world and the physical world. They function as their angels.

I love that you are choosing a whale as your symbolic companion in this time.

  18. Sometimes the things of the most beauty and grace come from the depths of our greatest pain. I am so glad you are able to use this pain to push yourself further and deeper.

On another note, I hope you place the Tyvek tutorial here. I have some hanging around I would love to use up....

  19. I've been reading this journal for ages and while I've found so much inspiration I hardly ever comment. I was catching up today and read your first paragraph and even though I don't *really* know you, it was still like a kick in the chest in some strange way. So offering hugs, strength, sympathy.

  22. Someone once told me that divorce is a death. I felt that then (in the midst of my divorce). What I couldn't have known was all that I'd be able to *see* and know and savor on the other side. Divorce is also a birth. Thinking of you and wishing you all good things in a definitely challenging time. You ARE strong. xo
