listening

Delicious ingredients to work with this weekend!
I want to make a spring bag... no, I need to make a spring bag! Something perfect to carry me through this new season. A bag that's strong and beautiful... with lots of space for holding the stuff of my everyday. I look at sewing as an opportunity to listen to materials and hear their story, as I transform them into what they want to become. I pulled out a bunch of ingredients to inspire me and will let them dictate this design.

I hope to make some time this weekend to wash the dirt off my hands so that I can get to my sewing machine. I'll report back to you on Monday with my efforts. What do you have planned for your weekend?

p.s In the comments, you'll see that my friend Sonia is *destashing* some of her lace trims! I just snagged a few as I LOVE them, but there are still more right here.

  1. I'm such a sucker for red & neutral colors, your bag is going to be awesome ! I still have some of this lace (& tons more) that I've been destashing in the shop. (not saying that for you, of course, but for anyone who would be interested) Can't wait to see your finished bag ! Have a wonderful weekend my friend oxox

  4. I can hardly wait to see the final product! Like Sonia of Cozy Memories I too am a sucker for red & natural colors. They remind me of my childhood in Germany! And yes I am going to have to head over and pick up a bit of that lace. Oh my word my husband is going to just shake his head so I guess I better get myself in gear especially since I brought home some vintage sheets I found at Goodwill today. They just spoke to me. :) Have a wonderful weekend! We are off to watch Oklahoma performed at one of the local high schools and then enjoy our spring like weather!

  5. I love all of these bits, especially the embroidery. All I'm doing this weekend is cleaning the house and organizing the kitchen cupboards :)
