Helloooo! A belated happy March to you! I had a long list on the agenda for this week, but instead I spent most of the weekend lying about with a fever. After I got over the woe is me part, I moved over to appreciating that I was able to really be sick. All of my mothering life, sickness has meant pulling it together and rising above whatever illness was keeping me from my parenting. A weekend virus with children getting older meant something new:
- I listened to the happy sounds of my family going about their business on the floor below.
- I finally finished reading my big book (another total cliffhanger).
- Cups of tea and bowls of soup were delivered to me by my big boy.
- Multiple get well pictures from my daughter covered my blanketed lap.
It meant my sweet and capable husband had everything running smoothly, and I got to be sick! If you are in the throes of mothering little ones, this may seem a distant dream, but it will come! As funny as it sounds, I'm happy I got sick to appreciate that I made it to this point. Because of our unusually large spacing between children, it was a long time coming!
So that tulip above is on my
dining table and was taken with my
new camera! It's my little tribute to March. We may still be buried under a couple feet of snow, I may still be a bit sick... but Spring is surely coming!
Maya, Your blog is beautiful and always a source of inspiration! I just wanted to leave you a note to say that I'm very glad that you're feeling better and able to enjoy our first steps into Spring!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, Kayanna!
ReplyDeletesending your march sunshine, melting icicles and snowmen and best wishes for a quick and full recovery
ReplyDeleteglad you are feeling better. i too am reading, as you say, my big book and am only a quarter of the way through, savoring every bit. And it is another cliff hanger? another 2 or 3 years before another comes out. oh my.
ReplyDeleteHappy March to you.
margie- we're definitely thawing out here. 40 degrees has made the constant sound of dripping be the song of the day.
ReplyDeleteRandi- Yes it's another cliffhanger like all of the previous ones, but I didn't see it coming... so I know I'm not giving it away!It took me until I was 1/2 way through to really feel immersed in this one, you unlike the rest. Happy reading.
That is beautiful sweet Maya and I am so glad you are feeling better! I know what you mean, about being sick with little ones. So, I am so glad you had the down time. Okay, now I really must start one of those books, which one of hers do you recommend I begin with? I can't wait! Thanks for the welcome to March, I am looking forward to spring. :)

Melis
Thanks Melis! Start at the beginning with Outlander. You'll either love it or you won't. If you love it, get ready to not be able to read anything else for the next few MONTHS!
ReplyDeletedo hope you are feeling well real soon!
ReplyDeleteWell, yet another reason to be a little less sad that my babies are getting a bit older! I have a long way to go to get here still, but it is good to have some perspective! Glad you are on the mend. And congrats on the new camera... great photo!
ReplyDeleteooohhh feel better maya! it's funny that you mention that you are now at a point where you're sick and actually CAN be sick. i'm definitly not there yet and was reminded of this last week when everyone in my household was sick! thanks for this gentle reminder ;)
ReplyDeletehappy march and happy spring!
Oh Jennlui- sorry to hear you were ALL sick. I definitely wouldn't have been able to indulge my sick self if everyone was. I'm counting myself very lucky this time... and I've had that elusive moment in bed with a book and a box of tissues that I never thought I would see again. You will, too!
ReplyDeleteHappy March and sending wishes for a speedy recovery. Isn't is such a blessing when your Littles take care of you?

Hope you feel so much better. Sometimes I think that as a mom being sick is nature's way of us finally getting some well needed rest.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you are better.
ReplyDeleteI am trying to imagine a time when getting sick means resting. To be able to rest when you need to rest, what a blessing that is. Being a mother helps me appreciate this blessing in a way that I never would otherwise.
Oh, I am so glad to hear you are feeling better. I just recently got over my own cold with two little ones, it seems so much harder when there's no one to mother you! I didn't know Diana Gabaldon came out with another book in the series, thank you for the link.
ReplyDeleteOh goodness - I hope March is bringing some well-needed healing in your home. What a wonderful way to spend the time, though!
ReplyDeleteLOVELY photo with the new camera. Even thinking about that in my home makes me smile. :)
You're post made me smile!
ReplyDeleteI'm in the middle of that mothering phase where I must pull it together. My kidlets are 8, 6,
3, & 19 months. Two are down with colds this week & who knows if the other two will follow or not.
But, I know the day is coming that I will miss these days. So, I smile, relax, cuddle up in bed and read Tom Sawyer - again.
so glad that you are feeling better. we were all in bed this weekend together reading and eating your yummy popovers. so happy that you were could get your rest so that you recovered quickly.
ReplyDeletewe were reading too...harry potter and the half blood prince. enjoyed by all.
I totally know what you mean, it happened to me two years ago and that was the first time in a long time that I could read so much (with two young children it never happens), I read the bigger "Harry Potter" in only 2 days ^^
ReplyDeleteHappy March to you! :)
Get well!! Sunshine from Sweden :)
ReplyDeleteBest, Beatrice
My family got sick, then functionally better, now I'm down! With a pair of 3 year olds, I envy your weekend. I know there will be a someday...
