After getting frustrated with my jumbled basket of trims and salvaged selvedge for the umpteenth time, I grabbed a couple of sticks and pieces of driftwood and began winding them. It only took a few minutes and the end result was more than an end to chaos- each one felt like a handheld sculpture.
I love little bundles like that. I did the dame thing with my sari silk ribbon with a weird collection of shoehorns I picked up at an antique shop. And some little armless antiques china dolls I had been collecting were good for the snippets too..

Kim- I always love your collections. Great way to use them!
ReplyDeleteDoubly inspiring: I want to go on a driftwood-beach walk, and organize. Nice one, Maya!
ReplyDeleteLove it. I have used cut up cereal boxes, but this idea is so much more beautiful and gives me another reason to collect driftwood.
ReplyDeleteThis is awesome Maya. Who wants to hide these in a box looking so pretty, now you can display these in a open basket. Thanks for the great idea.
ReplyDeleteI love your blog so much, and haven't had a chance to read it often, BUT I redid my blog roll in my sidebar, and now I see all my fav blogs updated daily, YAY.... SO I'm finally able to stop by and say hello on a regular basis :)

ReplyDeleteAhh, good idea! I love using sticks!
ReplyDeleteSo smart!! I have a giant bin of drift wood waiting to be painted into little cottages. I think they will have an intermediate life as ribbon holders.
ReplyDeletelovely idea! and they look like little masterpieces :)
ReplyDeleteI love these little bundles!

How satisfying to organise all those lovely bits, and beautifully done too. I am a beginner to sewing, and am intrigued as to why you'd save selvedge? What do you use it for? Ailsa x
ReplyDeleteI like it, great idea
