This blog has grown and shifted many times over the last few years, and it continues to be one of my favorite outlets for both creativity and personal expression. The way that I parent, feed my family, and repurpose everything within reach felt a little lonelier before I started writing here. You get me. You really do. This community that greets me through email, comments, twitter and now workshops has become a circle of friends that I love and appreciate. Even if you don't write... I know you're here. When I temporarily gave up posting tutorials and diy's to work on my book, I expected everyone to disappear. That's what the "blogging experts" always predict. You proved them wrong! And since you kept showing up... so did I- through thoughts and pictures of my days. Writing posts was my bit of sanctuary amidst the chaos of deadlines. Truly, it kept me focused and sane. And now... as I shared last week, I've found my way back out of the "woods". And so I wanted to acknowledge my gratitude for your steadfast friendship with a gift or two. This is the biggest burlap bucket I make. In fact, I've only made two this size ever! Check out the clothespin on the left for size reference. It's about a foot and a half tall... and a foot wide. That's a big ol' bucket. Right now, as you can see, it's filled with my deep thanks. I'm sure that you can think of something that needs containing at your place, so I'd like to send it your way.
Your comments filled me up in so many ways... I loved hearing the many different kinds of gratitude we all feel. Thank you!
Congratulations to-

Hi Maya,
I enjoy your blog so much. Creativity and a quiet peace flow from it. Today, and everyday, I am grateful for my little growing family and the joy they bring, often times in an unexpected way.

I am thankful for the gorgeous full moon I saw on the way to work this morning. A beautiful way to start my day.
I am grateful for all the inspiration that surrounds me.
ReplyDeleteI'm one of those who read but rarely commented, and the blogging experts can take a hike, don't you think? I'm so tired of reading about how we should blog if it's anything other than "stay true to yourself." Anyway, I'm thankful for this quasi-sick day~my kids had time to explore the writing center I set up for them and start writing/drawing some new books. Yay!
ReplyDeleteI am grateful for every person who supports my creative endeavors--you know who you are!
ReplyDeleteI know it would be well used in my home!!!
ReplyDeleteI am glad that you feel that way about the blog Maya. I still remember the early days, with all the hesitation and anxiety. You've come a long way, girl!!!
We just had our Thanksgiving weekend here in Canada. I'm thankful for so many people and things in my life, but mainly I'm thankful for the healing I've done and who I am today. I can now honestly say that in most moments, I am "the peace" that I wish to see in the world.
ReplyDeletewow...beautiful bag!

I have always admired your buckets, but just couldn't find the room in my budget. The Guatemala sacks are closest to my heart because my husband and I honeymooned in Guatemala.
ReplyDeleteEven though I am every day, today I am especially grateful for my husband as it is our second wedding anniversary. He is the best person I know and being with him is always the best part of my day.

ReplyDeleteAnd I would be thrilled to be a recipient of your bucket ;-)
Blogs are an ever-evolving thing, don't you think? While you may have an audience that looks for the how-to's, I imagine there are several different "audiences" here interested in different facets of your blog. My readership fluctuates but there's a "core" there of people who I feel really get me too, and that's a wonderful feeling. For that, I am also grateful.

today I am grateful for my sweet children. We recently added a new member to our family, and I am just so lucky to have sweet, helpful kids who love their baby sister.
Thanks for the chance :)
ReplyDeleteThankful for so many ways to get inspiration, for women who share their lives and thoughts. For the push to keep thinking about my own life and ways of mothering, creating and being. For beautiful photos and good ideas. And for the weekend at the end of the week, always:)
ReplyDeleteI'm relatively new to your blog, but enjoy reading for the occasional inspiration to "make things", something I don't often allow myself time to do because of "more important" (not really) tasks.
ReplyDeleteGreat giveaway! You always inspire me to be in the moment, which is all the reason in the world to come back and visit! stifam@embarqmail.com
ReplyDeleteI am grateful for being healthy and happy.

ReplyDeletei am greatful that there are people out there who are willing to share their craft - either by selling and/or giving it away! love your buckets and would love to have one of my own!
ReplyDeleteAwwwww! That is so sweet! I love that it says made in Germany on it! I could totally use this to corral my son's toys. We use a fabric hamper now but this is much more stylish!

ReplyDeleteThis is such a lovely bucket!
I am grateful my husband is out of town and didn't see that I ate more than half of your grandma's one bowl apple cake after dinner! I'm a loyal and quiet fan who has, on more than one occassion, read your blog in the morning and decided to take a deep breath and just enjoy my three young children instead of stressing and rushing around. Aside from fattening and centering me, you steadily inspire me as well. Thank you. A thousand times, thank you.
ReplyDeleteToday I am grateful for a sleeping baby! :)
ReplyDeleteOh another beautiful item! I love it - and am so grateful for a last couple of days of warm sun in Oregon.
ReplyDeleteOh yes, it's me Proudfoot - you know where I am :) Thanks for the offer Maya!
thank you for asking this question! I was feeling rather blah today after a tiring day with the kids and now you've got me thinking of all the things I'm grateful for which is making me feel very blessed! :) Right now, I'm feeling grateful for my new little nephew who was just born yesterday. So happy to have another little baby in the family!

I am grateful for the support of my loving husband as I try to transition out of a career that no longer suits me. Love your log Maya, I check in everyday...I adore the way you live, your creativity and I really loved reading about the Squam workshops. Much like you, I feel like I am coming out of the woods as well...thank you for your inspiration!
ReplyDeleteI am grateful that I could clean my house this morning quietly and with love! And that is not always (usually not) the case, but shouldn't we try to enjoy as well these always returning tasks in our lives?

I'm grateful for the clouds and rain we are being blessed with this morning. The cloud cover provided the kids sleeping in a little later this morning and the rain was a nice welcome of a slow entry into my day as well.
