ready!
My mother's beautiful barn has seen a lot of action while she was away all winter in California. This past weekend was no exception. My, was there a lot of commotion! But since we are now counting the hours to her arrival (with my nieces in tow), it was time to get things in order. While my son was at camp, my daughter and I got to work. Well, she mostly made art and ate snacks, but she did make a great companion until she had had "enough cleaning already, Mama!". But I think we're set. Fresh sheets and bouquets from the meadow will greet them. We can't wait! July is my favorite month of my favorite season. Between the juxtaposition of summering it up with family and the amount of writing I'm currently immersed in, something has to give. After spending several days away from this space, I know how much I miss you and can't just say "see ya in August". No way! My solution as of right now is: Instagram (my username is mayamade) I will be blogging visually (with a caption) for the month of July. I may surprise you with a book review, giveaway or tutorial, but mostly you will see snapshots of what we do best around here: s.u.m.m.e.r.! Barn frolicking is sure to be a frequent subject and I will definitely keep the tweeting up... so now's a great time to give me a follow. I know what you're thinking... it's still JUNE! Just getting ready...
Are you getting ready for any big summer plans or fun guests?

Hello Maya,
ReplyDeleteI am following along on your blog and can’t wait to see your upcoming summer photos. Your Mother’s barn looks just gorgeous; awesome JOB! Down here in Florida we are having family over to spend long weekends and taking a bit more time off work for the summer.
Smiles, Paula
The biggest, most exciting thing going on in my life is...oh wait, nothing.
ReplyDeleteThe barn looks so lovely! Wonderful job.. I love how excited you are about July, I am too!
ReplyDeletegreat job at that barn, it looks so nice!!
ReplyDeletetee hee. july and august are my least favorite months, so i look forward to watching you capture the best and help me muddle through the summer!
ReplyDelete(i just don't like/tolerate the heat and humidity)
ReplyDeleteSome of my favorite posts from Margie are her Wordless Wednesdays. I'm excited to see your minute posts at well!
ReplyDeleteInstagram is dreamy & makes me want to buy an iPhone, so I'm pretty excited about these posts. This summmer, I'm taking a few short trips--a course in London & a trip to Amsterdam--but mostly just spending time at home, writing and crafting and painting.
ReplyDeleteGood for you for setting blogging boundaries and finding a way to balance all of the demands of your life! Also, I am very jealous of your meadow full of flowers and your temperate summer. It is so hot and dry here we have only dead grass!
ReplyDeleteThanks for popping in Maya and inspiring us with your summer preparations!
ReplyDeleteWe have a few short trips planned to the local islands around our parts. My cousin will be visiting from CA for 2 weeks in August! My daughter is starting piano lessons and taking a week of Art Day Camp. Trips to the Art Gallery, berry picking, forest and beach visits, I'm looking forward to it all!
Enjoy having your family all around you!

ReplyDeleteI think I found you! I followed both mayaluna and mayamade :-)
ReplyDeleteHashi I just added my username to the post. Forgot that important detail! I'm mayamade, didn't know there was another mayaluna!
ReplyDeleteThe barn looks gorgeous - your Mom will be glad to get away from the rain (?!) we've been having on this side of the country!! We will be spending the summer moving from the Bay Area to Paris. Exciting and daunting at the same time. As if I didn't have enough to do, I just started my own blog (so inspired by you). Might have to Instagram while the computer is in transit. Looking forward to seeing your photos. Enjoy your summer!
ReplyDeleteWishing you happy summer days. I look forward to your photo posts. We'll be in the hayfield much of the summer, but I did take a dip in the swimming hole today.

Your summer photo post idea sounds like the ideal compromise... it'll be like post cards from a friend on vacation! :)
ReplyDeleteI'm feeling the same way about my blog right now. So busy having fun and taking lots of pictures of it. I love the barn and look forward to seeing you summer pictures.
ReplyDeleteHow exciting that your mother is en route! The barn looks so welcoming, and I'm sure she can't wait to see you and her gorgeous space either. Happy July!!
ReplyDeleteWe have a fun guest coming tonight! I was just saying how he wouldn't mind the condition of our apartment (up to my ears in bits of fabric), but if its barn quality he is expecting he'll be sorely disappointed!
ReplyDeleteoh costume gal, you know he'll be right at home. I'm always pulling stray threads off him anyway. he's quite used to bits of fabric EVERYWHERE even though I try to keep them confined to the studio, they always escape. Have fun!
