beat the heat: paddle fan #2

fan for a heat wave 3
While the girls created their fans, I made a quick one for myself.  It was super fast and looks quite pretty, so I couldn't help thinking about how easy it would be to whip up multiples for party favors. If you have any summer celebrations coming up, this might be a project worth trying. Check out the previous post for instructions. I just made a simple shape and added  bold printed paper ("vintage"Amy Butler) adhered with a glue stick. So quick. Fabric would be a fun option too... don't you think?  It not only cooled me off, but brought out a bit of my dramatic flair. Flowers in the hair and all! Not a side I usually share on line, but I think it's high time we all sip cool summer drinks and get a little silly together. Wouldn't a dress up "blog" party be a blast? I'll have to think out the details on that one, but I do have something quite special already lined up for next week. A party of sorts... with recipes, projects, and a new pattern! Stay tuned and stay cool! Oh my!

  1. The fan looks great! I love the bottom picture. Very beautiful and dramatic with a little Frida Kahlo thrown in. And the blouse seems perfect for a hot summer day!

  4. Thanks so much! Tucking in a few flowers does significantly enhance your mood... I highly recommend it. The white blouse is one of my absolute favorites... bought it in Oaxacan market many years ago. Love white on white embroidery!

  5. Oh Maya was a darling picture of you! very bohemian.... LOVE the fan idea. We've had some terrible heat here in Virginia and these would take to focus away from our red, sweaty, crabby faces.... Thanks as always for filling the day with beauty and inspiration.
