  1. I would go to Vancouver Island to visit dear friends. I would visit familiar places and bask in familiar faces... I would drink some GREAT coffee, and go to the Saturday farmer's market.... I would take my BEAUTIFUL travel pillow with us for the ferry ride, on which my daughter could lay down her sweet head as she travelled toward the land of her birth.

We would look for owls out the window, and great sea birds too. And orcas and dolphins and sea lions. Oh, to be there now!

Thanks for the giveaway opportunity Maya!

  4. I would go to Japan, the last year or so I have seen and heard so many lovely things from Japan, I would love to go there and explore the countryside andthe traditional culture and craft and go to Tokyo and see all the great design/craft and zakka stores and of course visit Miho a friend I met through blogging ;-))

  5. Ahhh, I would love to go anywhere new, but especially Bucharest, Romania. I would love to visit the youth shelters that my charity helps support, and meet with the children.
I would also love to see the Romanian countryside where technology has not yet taken hold, and horse & buggy are still a primary mode of transportation.

What a different world, for sure :)

  7. Utah, to see my best friend and get crafty with her. As it is, we just email and try to scheme our way into a reunion. It's just so hard with kids to find the way to do it.

  8. My favorite vacation spot is Destin, FL. I love the white sandy beaches. I'd love to go with just my husband and kids. We've gone several times with my in laws (and that is fun), but can't afford to go all by ourselves...but it would be so lovely.

  18. Oh I do have a soft spot for owls!

I would be in my childhood home in Alaska in a heartbeat if I could. Not that being in Seattle is all that far away...but June in Alaska is to die for. The nights last 'til morning, the sun is exactly the perfect temperature, and the water of Kachemak Bay reflects your soul. Ok, I may be waxing just a little poetic, but I do miss my sweet hamlet by the sea.

  34. Oh, to go home and visit my aging mom and aunts in Switzerland together with Huxley my five year old son and my soon to be legal husband (we're getting married on Saturday, but have already been together for eight years), saddly nobody from Switzerland can make the wedding, so going there would just rock! Then on to Brussels to see my best friend, and of course Paris and Florence and Rome and back to Venice and hey... would we have to come back? Okay, since all that doesn't work... the pillow would also be lovely to drive around town and have Huxley snuggle with it...

  52. I've been lucky to do quite a bit of traveling at this point in my life...my next big trip is this fall when I'm going to Cairo, Egypt. My husband is going to participate in a Habitat for Humanity build and I'm going to meet him there after the build for a few days of sight seeing. We were able to use airline points to cover the trip, so I am going to fly business class!!! That will be a first for me, I can't wait! I know what you mean about Hawaii, I love it there, we're lucky on the west coast, it's not too far and there are frequently good deals to get there. We were married on Oahu two summers ago. Okay, okay, can you tell that I could talk about traveling for a long time?! It's one of my favorite parts of life. To answer your question, if I could go anywhere right now, it would be Cinque Terre in Italy - five villages on the Italian Riviera. There are terraced vinyards and beautifully colored buildings set into the cliffs - beautiful. Not to mention that the people are warm and the food is fabulous! I still have a bottle of wine from my last visit there, I may have to pop that cork this afternoon! Cheers!

  100. If we were not expecting #2 any day now we might be camping in Yellowstone with my brother and SIL. So if I could be on vacation right now I'd like to be camping in Yellowstone or Yosemite or some other fabulous national/state park or beach.

We'd be someplace far from the internet and computers (just for a week or so) and enjoy quality family time - long talks and hikes, campfire dinners, and watching the stars. We'd leave meetings, email, housework, yard work, and homework behind.

After a few nights in our tent we'd enjoy a night or two in a cabin and dinners at a lodge, but we'd still enjoy the darkness and solitude of our private little retreat.

We'd also enjoy the journey and stop in the small towns' restaurants, and antique, specialty, ice cream and/or candy "shoppes" along the way. We'd take a ton of pictures, enjoy the scenery and stop to see anything that caught our fancy and laugh and sing the entire way.

Thanks for the virtual journey! Your travel pillow and owl pocket pillow are adorable. Baby would love to have this so if we are fortunate enough to will you can find me at http://vmsb.blogspot.com. Thanks again!

  123. Right now, right this rainy morning in Sunny Florida....I would fly home to see my family! They live far up in the Northern reaches of Canada...I would fly there to see them. My family has had to face such struggles this year and with being so far away and not having the finances to be able to be there with them has really pained me. My 2 sisters, my nephew, my mother and father...I miss more then anything! Another option would be to fly to Amsterdam. I LOVE the Netherlands and lived over there for a little while, I would love it if my family could meet my husband and I over there and we could have a wonderful time exploring the Dutch country side together!

  138. I would pack up the kids and go to Scotland! We made a new years resolution to get at least one stamp on our passports this year (even if it's just Canada!) I asked them if we could go anywhere; where would they want to go and of all the places they want to go to Scotland and see if they can see the Loch Ness monster. Funny! So I'd want to fulfill their wish.

    Kyla;)

  139. I would go back to Ireland immediately. There is a thatched cottage near Galway facing the Atlantic ocean where I want to be with my family, a bag of books, craft and art projects, and warm bread and scones all day.

  152. I would take my husband and kids and head to Spain.

    ReplyDelete
  153. If I could right now, I would get in my little car and hit the motorway. I'd take my bloke and my cats (who would magically be well behaved), and we'd drive through a moonlit night, singing along to all of our favourite songs.

We'd stop for a cup of tea and ham sandwiches at around 2:30 in the morning (the cats could have some ham too, because they like it), then we'd get back in the car. I'd have a snuggly blanket for us all to share except me, because I'd be driving.

Eventually, we'd arrive at Harlyn Bay, which is in North Cornwall, near Padstow, in England. This is a long way from Wales. But it doesn't matter, because we'd get there in time to sit on one of the rocky slate cliffs that looks over the crashing sea and watch as the sun creeps over the horizon, first hitting the islands off of the shore, then glancing one by one off of the little wavelets. We'd watch the seagulls wheel and sqwack at one another as they woke up, and smell the salty-sweet rotting seaweed on the shore below.

Then we'd all go and play in the rockpools that I played in when I was much, much smaller and easier to please, and when a shrimp in a net seemed like the best thing in the world, and when all the crabs in Cornwall were out to get you, just you.

And it would all be perfect, and we would talk about it until we were old and he was gray and I stopped dying my hair, which is something I shall never do.

And then we would go home, with the sunset in the rear view mirror, sand in our paws and the glistening road falling away under our tyres.

  154. We would fly to Kauai, HI. My family, like yours, lives there and our little one misses her Pa, TuTu and Uncle Tooter Pie horribly. Every time our 2 1/2 yr old see's a plane she says " Mama that plane is coming to get me so I can go to Hawaii," how unbelievably cute is that.... We share your heart-ache with loved ones so far away. Love your Blog...

  155. I'm new to maya*made and I am so happy I found it! What a sweet pillow idea too. If I could go anywhere right now I would take my husband and children to France to see my husband's family. We haven't been back in 4 years and we (my husband especially) miss our grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins so much. We've had a visit from Grandma and Grandpa in the past four years, but have not seen any of the rest of the family. We miss them terribly and would love for our youngest two children to actually get to meet them! Why does airfare have to cost so much?! :)

    ReplyDelete
  156. Well, seeing as I am *in* Hawaii, and my little sisters and nieces are either here, too, or about to arrive tomorrow (for the first time in 7 years! Woohoo!!), obviously, my answer will be different. :p

I would love to be heading off either to Europe, for a grand shopping trip, cause Hawaii is most definitely NOT a mecca of decor; or else California, to visit the other members of the family, and hitting up all the Mainland destinations I have been missing for so long. :p

  157. Hi,
I just found your blog a couple of weeks ago, and think it is lovely! I made the newspaper bunting for my boys' birthday party (in rainbow colors), and we could not throw it away afterwards. It now hangs on their bedroom ceiling. Thank you, the tutorial was great. Now, if I could travel anywhere in the world right now, I would stay in Alaska and take a hike into our rainforest. An overnight in a remote cabin in the deep woods, sounds sweet to me. I love the travel pillow and it would be great clipped onto a backpack for the hike. I am sure the owl would be listening at night to hear one of its own. My best, Anna.

  158. Lovely pillow. I would go to Nothern Spain with my husband and three little ones. He'd show us around and we'd eat fresh seafood and watch the running of the bulls in Pamplona. He used to live in Spain, but I've never been.

  159. if money was no option, Japan. I'd love to take my family for a nice long visit. We'd have to stop through Vietnam, too.

    ReplyDelete
  161. I live in your town. You gave me advice about dentists in Wegmans when my kids were melting down. Thank you! Sometimes it only takes a neighbor to make the world open up for us, eh?

I love the pillow. I would take it and accept the offer of a visit to our good friends from Cornell who are now in Vanauatu - how many invitations from across the country does one get? My kids would need a pillow as sweet as yours to make it all the way across the world.

Keep on inspiring those of us who are still in the 2-under-3 quagmire.

    xoxo

We will sleep under the blanket of the stars, where the rolling waves sing a lullaby and wake up to a fresh sunny day. Bali, Indonesia.

  169. With the dog pack in the back seat, I would lay my head down on that pillow in the passenger seat while my sweet husband drove us wherever he wants to go.

I'm quite the homebody, and he likes to travel--I'll follow him anywhere, but it's all the more fun with the three dogs along.

  170. there are so many places i have never been, but if i could go anywhere i would go to an old favorite. camping with all my immediate and extended family at a lake about 4 hours from home. it's hard to get everyone's schedules coordinated and money is so tight right now...but i can still feel the heat rising off the leaves and smell the campfire and hear the motor boats on the lake first thing in the morning

  172. I'd go to Okoboji, IA. My family has a condo up there that we can go to for a week each summer. Lately, our schedules have not meshed to be able to go on that week. We've been going there since I was very young, and it's always nice to go back to where I have such great memories as a kid. When we go there, it's almost like I get to travel back in time for a week, as nothing seems to have changed.

  173. If i could go anywhere in the world where would i go? Such a tough question. I guess i should choose somewhere i've never been, rather than a re-do of a favorite voyage. So...if i could go anywhere in the world...i'd choose to go to Vilnius, Lithuania. It's one of the burgeoning art capitols and it is where my grandparents were born. There's a strong tug...

  174. I would be back in Taoyuan Taiwan to see my son. I miss him - so very much. And owl would send you pictures of what he sees from the top of Taipei 101. Yes, that's where 'we' would go.

  175. I'd go to NYC with my honey for our anniversary (sans kids, of course) for a whirlwind sightseeing and feasting tour, and definitely do some shopping.

    ReplyDelete
  176. Mommyhood has turned this girl sentimental. There is just something about an old-fashioned car trip to some fabulous historic place right here at home in the US. There is just so much USA to be discovered. Whenever I think of this idea of mine, I always imagine at least one roadside fiasco that weeks or months later makes us laugh. I think that is the perfect kind of "where would you go" for a travel pillow too.

    ReplyDelete
  177. LOVE the owl!

I would take the hubby and kids and go to NYC for a week. Museums, Central Park, a couple of shows, and of course some shopping. We live in a very rural part of the US and I'd love to introduce my family to some city life!

Our son is away for the next several weeks so that would be one hurdle cleared. I'm sure we could find someone to take care of the dog and work.. well... work would just have to survive. :)

I would love to give it to her as part of her birthday present! I am planning on making a couple for my boys before we head to Maine to see my mom a couple of weeks!!

    ReplyDelete
  186. I would go to Portland, Oregon, where I used to live 2 years ago. I would eat my way across the city (there aren't any good restaurants where I live now in New Hampshire!!) and then drive to Vancouver BC for a couple days. Then I'd take the ferry to Vancouver Island and kayak with orcas and sleep under the stars.

If I could go anywhere right now, it would be the beach at the hood canal with my kiddos & all my family. The adults would be sitting on the sea wall with gin and tonics in hand, bare feet dangling in the water while we watch the kids swim and play knowing that fresh clams and crab await us for dinner - ahhhh!

  195. Wow, you have so many people following your blog, how do you do it?!
I would go to Edinburgh, Scotland, where my husband I were married at the Registrar's office, we didn't get enough time to enjoy the area, and this time we could bring our 6 month old daughter for the trip. This time of year it would be so green and beautiful - and I could sit in the Elephant Tea Room all afternoon just listening to the locals chatter. mmmmmm.
If only we could all learn teleportation.

  196. This may be weird to some, but I would want to travel to heaven to see my parents who just recently passed away. I'd want to spend just one more day with them - asking all the questions that I didn't get answered while they were here. I especially want my Mom's brisket recipe - I keep asking myself why I never wrote it down. Blessings all!!!
