barn studio and collections 2

Just a few more peeks at my mother's extensive collection of vintage toys in the barn studio. She grew up in a nursery school and became a nursery school teacher, herself. Not a big surprise that she finds so much inspiration in children's playthings of yesterday.

Being a seasoned traveler, toys from other countries also fascinate my mother.

As you can imagine, my four year old is in absolute heaven in the studio. Every art supply at her disposal and intriguing toys every where she turns... each with a story to tell. The vintage dolls are her favorite.

This baby is always seated at the top of the steps to greet her. I love knowing that she is being introduced to dolls from a more innocent time... when little girls were not expected to grow up so fast.

One of the finest articles about the barn went live today on the Storque (Etsy). My mother and I are so honored to be in the SPOTLIGHT. The author, Christine really seems to get what this space is all about. If you've ever looked at one of my barn posts and longed for something in one of the photos... Christine has come up with an amazing line-up of Etsy finds to get that barn look. Please head over there, it's so much fun! Thank you so much, Christine! Pin It

  1. The barn, its beauty and the care and love your mom and you share within its hallowed walls should be in the spotlight everyday.

  3. What an absolute treasure trove. I've always loved barns and especially ones filled with the things of yesteryear. I can't imagine what an inspiring place this must be in real life. It has me wanting to hit the road and find a barn to restore from the pictures alone. I sure wish I could come for a class or two...

  8. Wonderful Etsy article and related items...now all I need is the barn!

I also love that your daughter is being brought up developing into her own sense of appreciation and imagination in this surrounding. It is so hard in this day and age to make sure everything that comes in the home has a purpose or a story behind it.

(side note here...word verification is "singa"....

    "I love to sing-a
About the moon-a and the June-a and the spring-a,
    I love to sing-a,
About a sky of blue-a, or a tea for two-a,
    Anything-a with a swing-a to an "I love you-a,"
I love to, I love to sing"

...it had to be sung and will no be going through my head all day...talk-a about vintage childhood!!!!)

  17. Maya, you have so many amazing talents and stories that you share. It is an inpiration to dreamers like me. Whenever I can make my ideas into realities i certainly jump on it, but right now raising my 2year old, working, and having to cope with my darling husband working on a Masters, the days are few and far between when I have time for creating and doing other than the daily routine. So, the pleasure for me is living through others like yourself who lovingly share to keep ones dreams/inpiration alive.
And do you know what is the icing on the cake for me?...The heartfelt blogs about your mom and her barn! Thanks again! nancy v
