A blank page. A fresh canvas. A clean slate. All are invitations to begin something new. In the same way that I enjoy putting up words as reminders, I am also finding it inspiring to keep open notebooks and untouched canvases out and ready. They have become both display and decor. I have always been drawn to the simplicity of white... and this gives it a crisp new perspective.
And so... I begin. During the early hours of summer mornings, when the birds are up, but the children are not. Writing, drawing, designing, painting... allowing myself the freedom of starting fresh with new ideas and a desire to dive deeper beneath the white sheets to who I truly am and have always been.
What might a blank page or fresh canvas invite you to express? Consider placing some in welcoming corners or even in the middle of your living room (as I did with my canvases!) and see what happens.
What a refreshing way to look at the start of the day but I have to admit that I hate seeing blank pages and canvases as I feel pressured to fill them x
ReplyDeleteno pressure here...
DeleteYes Maya, I totally agree, put out whatever inspires you to "just begin"! I need to do that with my tiny 'work space'. A blank canvas would likely work better for me than a book as I so love the freshness of a clean unmarked book! Silly me!
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful morning tomorrow, creating whatever comes to mind.

me too... blank journals make me happy!
DeleteI am jealous at you: beginning the morning with the kids still asleep. Two of my 3 kids are early birds, one of them is even at schooldays up way before the rest of us, even finished his breakfast before we're downstairs... :S Enjoy your quiet mornings ;)
ReplyDeleteMy early birds did not remain that way... 6 am has turned into much later for both of them. I hope the same happens for you one day!
DeleteWe have moved to SE Asia and I have no garden any more and am yet to find friends and our place in this new world. My life is a blank page and canvas and you know, it's quite exciting - there is a sense of freedom. Overwhelming at times, a little lonely at others, but I have real chance to fill my blank page with something new. Enjoy x
ReplyDeleteVery exciting, indeed! I'm sure it's a bit scary too... but what a wonderful adventure!
DeleteMy favorite mantra: NOW I begin ... and now, I begin again!
ReplyDeleteA little a-ha as I scroll through your gorgeous images: it would be easier for me to dive into crystal clear water ... which means tidying up my space and readying myself! Can't wait to see who or what appears on those inviting white panels :) xo
love you Lis!
DeleteI love the blank canvases as a decor. In front of a coloured wall, they'd look great (although, maybe a little bit too fashionable?) .
ReplyDeleteBlank canvases are a statement for themselves. An invitation, yes. A symbol that everything is still possible with these canvases (in contrast to one's lives, maybe...).
I guess I wouldn't feel urged (too much) to fill them but admire their pristine state.
Funny enough... I just bought more blank canvases because I am enjoying the ones on the wall just as they are!
