This was the last load of our wood. As of yesterday afternoon- the mountain is stacked! Four rows in and 6 cords later... I can't tell you how proud I am that we did it ourself. No big man needed! With a little help from my son and a last push from a good friend, we did it in time for the first flurry of snow.
My back aches, but my heart is happy, and my confidence is soaring!
I've taught my children and myself a lesson in: perseverance, collaboration, and self reliance. And I've got all I need to provide them with: warmth, security, tradition, and beauty... our stocked wood shed means so much!
And now I'm off to start a huge week... a good, huge week. So happy to begin it with a healthy dose of confidence. Can you feel it? If I could, I'd bottle it up and send you some! Not sure of how many posts will be appearing here for the next few days, but I'll try to keep the instagrams flowing.
Love to you all,
Maya

ReplyDeleteThis post reminds me of a Mary Oliver poem - "The Winter Wood Arrives". Do you know Mary Oliver? Her little book of poems Thirst might speak to you during this season.

I know this is an older post, but GOSH I love a good woodpile. I even pinned it to my woodpile board. Beauty and function; the best.
