peach salsa

 While peaches are still around, I feel that it is my foodie responsibility to share this salsa with you. My mother made it over the weekend, and I could have eaten gallons of it. I showed some restraint, but it would be wonderful eaten with a little spoon as a chilled soup. Just saying...

She followed this recipe loosely and substituted limes for the lemons.  Even writing about it makes me want to pick some more peaches!

While looking around the barn for a pretty little something to use as a backdrop for the above photos, I remembered these gorgeous vintage quilt squares that my friend Kimm gave my mom last winter.

Look at those sweet hand stitches. Everything about these begs for some very special honoring. Don't you think?

I schemed up several sewing projects, but I think they're too fragile for everyday use. I could see putting them in a frame and just loving them on display. What do you think? What would you do with such beautiful and fragile quilt squares?

    First off I've got just a few peaches left from our tree...guess what I'll be making! Sounds amazing. Second Oh I love those squares...so darling. I'm working on a quilt right now and have been debating hand quilting, but I fear it's just too big a task.

      Hand quilting IS a huge task, but the rewards are probably equal! Whatever you choose, I'm sure it will be a beauty!

    I'll have to pick up some peaches at the farmer's market tomorrow, this recipe looks delicious! And I would hang those beautiful quilt squares by finishing binding them, adding a hanging loop, and putting them up above my sewing machine for instant inspiration.

    Everything about these lovely quilt squares screams ENJOY everyday--but since they are fragile, I agree with Cinnamon, but I would just gently slip stitch the edges rather than applying a binding, then add tabs and hang them on a rustic stick or interesting dowel, wherever you will see them the most. In my house they'd probably go in the dining room, which is open to the living area. Thanks for sharing and inspiring.
