There's nothing like a fresh coat of white paint and just picked flowers to brighten everything up!
I'm quite proud of my old and thrifted chairs, we've loved them up "as is" for years, but they had seen better days. Their lovely patina wasn't very inviting to sit on with bare legs...
But now LOOK!
My old picnic table has been with us for so many seasons (bought at a garage sale 12 years ago), it's still going strong, but it was next on my list. The peeling paint made a wonderful backdrop for all of my photos this year, but the kids and I stopped eating on it without a tablecloth. Until I whipped out my paint brush... fresh!
I slapped it on, lickety split, under a blazing sun. It's not perfect but it's done... and ready for cold, juicy watermelon to be wiped right off. Perfection is overrated.
Completion is where it's at these days! Any projects you're hoping to get done this weekend? You can do it!

I just sealed some old adirondacks. I love the fresh feel! Your work is perfect! Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteyay! and thank you! I have two old adirondacks that could use some fresh, too. may have to add them to the list.
DeleteJust found your blog and I love it. That furniture looks so fresh with a lick of paint - I'm inspired to sort our garden furniture out, if only it stops raining for just a day or two.
ReplyDeleteToo hot to paint outside (over 100), but the shearers are coming this weekend to shear my lambs to get their baby fuzz off! I just keep telling myself we'll all feel much better when it's over!
ReplyDeletewondering how your little lambs are feeling!? a cool front finally moved in here... hope it finds you, too.
DeleteI love how you are just getting things done, no matter what! Have a great weekend.

no matter what!
DeleteTruly amazing what paint will do. Looks like you bought new chairs!
ReplyDeletefeels that way too... get happy each time I look at them!
DeleteA playhouse. This is how it looked at the beginning of the week...http://rookiehomeschoolmama.blogspot.ca/2012/06/and-were-off.html. Not much to look at! The walls and roof are up now, and it needs shingles and a coat of paint, as well as the loft finished inside.
ReplyDeletea loft, too!? lucky littles you've got!
Deleteso good to get things done, isn't it? love the freshly-painted chairs and picnic table!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great makeover, the white is so fresh.
ReplyDeleteThere is just something about a coat of white paint! Makes everything fresh and clean. I need to paint my basement landing. Not this weekend, but soon. Great job Maya.
ReplyDeleteOoh! So pretty! Did you scrape the table first? I need to paint mine too...
ReplyDeleteI sanded and peeled and used the jet of my hose... I should have done a tiny bit more, but I was anxious to get 'er done!
DeleteA fresh coat of white paint is a great freshener! Your chairs look terrific!
ReplyDeleteGood work! And did you pick that bouquet inspired by the flowers on your pillow? They match so well :-)
ReplyDeleteHappy Summer dear Maya!
perfect is definitely over rated and almost never achieved. done and enjoying it is the best. great job!
ReplyDeleteHi Maya,
ReplyDeleteI've just stumbled upon your blog and I love it, how clever you are! Your photo's are gorgeous by the way. I wish I had more motivation to restore things but I just love all things shiny and new!
Looking forward to reading more x
Oh girl...speaking to my heart-completion rather than perfection. Amen!
