the woods were lovely, dark, and deep...

See you in the fall #squamlove
Good morning friends! Right now I'm listening to the rain tapping on our kitchen skylight, sipping tea and enjoying my first moments of S.L.O.W. in weeks. Big exhale. It was a powerful time for me in those woods... and that gorgeous lake cleansed and healed more than I could have ever expected. I came home so tired... but strong. Perhaps, the strongest I've ever felt. Communing with nature is always restorative, but connecting with so many sensitive and creative souls was the deep medicine I needed. I'm going to savor uploading the pictures and let my heart travel from one vivid Squam memory to another. I'll share them and my reflections on teaching and speaking in the coming days. For now, I'm rounding up some of my instagram photos to give you a little taste of the rejuventation, beauty, and some serious reinventing!

    1. Yes! Those luna moths were quite real... all five of them! That was the front entry of my cabin... a very magical site, for sure!

  3. Maya, your book talk was transformative for me as I began to process the confusion of feelings that accompanied my own journey through writing and completing my dissertation. I too came home from Squam feeling more grounded and open and ready to draw on that well of peace and creativity as I parent my three children. It was wonderful to meet you and I am so happy to have found your blog and your book. Blessings.

  4. It was nice to meet you, Maya! I enjoyed your talk and enjoyed finally looking through your book, as well...so many ideas there I want to get to! I didn't see any of the moths over where I was but I spent a lovely solitary time tromping through the woods taking photographs. My stories, too, will come out one by one, with photos...so many stories to share.

  5. Mother Nature sent you so many healing gifts, did she not?
I smiled all the way through this post, Maya.

  9. Oh I'm so glad you had such a wonderful, healing, rejuvenating time at Squam, Maya. Your photos are beautiful. Those moths! They make me think of Barbara Kingsolver's book Prodigal Summer (I believe I read somewhere that you too are a big fan of Barbara's!).

Looking forward to seeing more photos once you've had time to breathe and settle.
    Lots of love

  11. Lovely pictures...is that a wall of luna moths? Incredible. I have never seen one in person. They always seem so mythical in photographs. Amazing.
