I love giving my children a sense of independence. I'm always on the look out for snacks they can prepare by all by their self. Even though my son is very comfortable cooking, this little snacky dessert is our new go-to treat. It can be made elegant in a paper "cup" for tea parties. Mostly I'm just setting out the ingredients and letting them go to town. Any child old enough to wield a butter knife can try their hand at natural peanut butter cups. My five year old will tell you that this is "good and messy". A
big thanks to my good friend Kathrin for another simple and marvelous idea that we're all gobbling up!
As you can see: 3 ingredients. Bananas. Peanut butter. Chocolate chips. Grain sweetened chips can be used if you're wanting to avoid sugar.Any nut butter will work.
Yummm!

ReplyDeleteOh, yes I forgot about carob chips! Perfect.
ReplyDeletethis looks great. I wonder if my picky kids would eat this. one doesn't eat bananas, one doesn't eat sliced bananas, but will eat whole ones.

That's a brilliant snack idea. Good mix of protein & carbs. Peanut butter and apple is another good one :)

Always looking for something my three year old might actually eat -- she'd be all over that chocolate chip garnish :-)
ReplyDeleteI love this! I showed my kids the photos and they begged to try it right away. So we did, with pretzels, too. And I blogged it, crediting you and linking to this post, of course.
ReplyDeleteYou are creative in every avenue of life; it is so inspiring! You make the simplest things look and feel special.
ReplyDeletealso good frozen! I take bananas, put them on a popsicle stick, schmear them with peanut butter and roll in rice crispies or corn flakes - pop them in the freezer and you've got banana pops! my kids at school love them.
ReplyDeleteCute...I'll have to try that. Maybe sunbutter would be good too!
ReplyDeleteForget the kids. I want to eat that.
