snow day

I really enjoyed this week's shared meditations... that's really what they ended up feeling like to me: little meditations. I had planned out my content for all three days, but ended up changing Tuesday and Wednesday's posts spontaneously to what I was doing (collecting sticks) or where my thoughts were (risk taking) right in that moment. It was a bit of improvisation, and I loved it! So here's one more bit of what's happening RIGHT NOW. A big winter snow storm has begun and we're all enjoying a cozy pajama day.

I brought my camera out when I went to haul wood (for the stove) and here's a little peek outside. Won't you come with me:

  1. I love the sound of the wind in the background. So relaxing. Whenever a winter storm hits us I think of the early settlers, How would they have entertained themselves during a storm? And how can I honor their lives during my life?

  2. So, so pretty. That makes my barren backyard look like the Sahara desert!

  5. I'm really struck by the fact that I too this morning stood outside and took a silent video of our woods. Funny we seemed to be thinking the same thing. We're not getting new snow here, but it was so cold (-10) that the snow that was fluttering down from the trees was sparkling in the sun, exactly like glitter. Sadly my video didn't capture just how beautiful it was.

    Enjoy your snow day.

  6. What a lovely idea to bring us with you. All that perfect untouched snow. Beautiful. I'm sure you were shivering though.

  8. Wow! that is really beautiful. Here in phoenix the closest I get is when the teenagers get TPed. We call it snow in the winter, so sad, I know. Thanks for sharing, enjoy your pj day!

  11. I truly enjoyed that Maya, thank you. I've always wanted to live where there was snow, but haven't made it there yet. Thank you for that lovely glimpse.

  12. Oh this is lovely! All we have here in Maine right now is rain. It is beautiful in it's own way though. The comforting pitter patter slop slop is a welcome addition to our daily noise. You must do a similar video in the spring when all is in full bloom. It must look like a faire's wonderland!

  13. In Australia there is no snow... never does snow where I live and besides that it is summer time!! We have some people in the district isolated of late by flooded rivers. Lots of rain still about. Lovely to see the photos of the snow... so different from here but gorgeous

  14. looks very, very familiar! Though I stand in admiration of your grand old trees. And having a stove that needs wood! Sounds like the makings of a very cozy day.

  15. It's so strange to think that on this stifling hot Summer day here in Australia someone else is standing in snow. Brr! Looks lovely and cold.

  16. That looks like bliss. We miss the snow so much, being from the northeast originally. But thankfully, two weeks ago, here in Atlanta we had enough snow to provide an opportunity for actual sledding!

  19. Very lovely. Thanks for sharing. We've had a very mild and pretty dry winter out her in Western, WA. Not one snowy day, or even half day. So your sharing of some of your snow is much appreciated

    Thanks.
