flowers for Squam

Squam is here! Leaving tomorrow bright and early with my best friend Laura! Have I mentioned that not only do I have the privilege of teaching at Squam Art Workshops, I'm also driving up and rooming with one of my favorite women in the world? I couldn't be more grateful! I think this week is going to be filled with magic and transformation for teachers and participants alike. I'll be reporting back with lots of details next week. If you happen to live in the area, please come by Saturday evening to say "hi" and check out the wonderful Squam Art Fair and Marketplace. I'll be set up with lots of buckets and such. So excited!

In the mean time, I had some crazy idea that I could bring barn flowers for my Botanical Printing class.

They won't make it until Friday, but wasn't it a dreamy idea? My sweet assistant and I picked bouquets anyway... there is nothing I love more than picking pitchers of flowers.

Well, maybe taking pictures of flowers. Sorry, that one had to be said! When we got home we couldn't resist our lupines... and the scabiosa... and the dame's rocket!

That's one heavy pitcher, but she's a strong girl! Oh, how I'm going to miss her and the rest of my loving family. This is the longest I've ever been away... oops! Can't go there, I'm trying to be brave. Pin It

  4. Maya, I am so thrilled for you and Squam and can not believe it is already time. I will be there in spirit cheering you on, you are going to be fabulous!

I have never been away from my family that long but something that may help is knowing your children are seeing you go off to teach, to be someone other than mom. Especially important for your daughter to witness. You are a great role model for her to emulate and learn first hand that we all have many talents...and moms are more than moms, they are women our daughters will want to become someday.

  7. Oh yay! Squam. Go and have fun for me, for I will be living vicariously through you.

What an adventure to have on your own. I haven't been apart from my kids for more than an afternoon, myself. Maybe it's a good thing to break away for a bit. Returning is good too.

  8. Maya--

Thanks for gracing our little blog with your lovely presence! Almost as lucky as praying mantises, I'd say!

I'm in love with that field of wildflowers. I'm still trying to convince my husband that it would be perfect for part of our property...
