Having a hair emergency? Slide in a First Aid Pin for all of your bad hair day woes.
Oh, I had to squeeze a little light and silly stuff in today! I've had band aid/first aid type accessories on the brain ever since I received a comment about my cuff looking like a bandage. It was meant to be negative feedback, but I tend to have a sense of humor about these things. The more I thought about it, the more I really liked the concept. Thank you Anonymous commenter for your wonderful inspiration! Of course, classic symbols like crosses came to mind and these little clips were born. They were quick to make, using a button kit and a little hand stenciling. I'm feeling awfully clever and giggle every time I look in the mirror. I made another one in black on linen for someone attending my printing workshop at the barn this weekend. It's an image she uses frequently in her work and I think it will get a chuckle out of her, as well.
Stop by tomorrow... I'm hosting a fantastic give-away you won't want to miss!
What a lovely blog I just happened upon. Hello Mayaluna.

I love your First Aid pin! - It's funny, yet stylish. Twining strands of long hair pinned with theese in a casual hair-do would look great. (hope my bad english is understandable:)
ReplyDeleteCongratulations, your blog is beautiful, I love the simple and reuse materials. Beijos.

What an excellent idea!
ReplyDeleteThis is so clever; you are endlessly creative! Such a pin would certainly suit my hair most days.
ReplyDeleteYou and your ideas, fantastic! For my hair I don't think a small pin would be sufficient!!
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing the forget-me-not story. Those dear little flowers are one of my favourites but your words bought tears to my eyes.
I just love it maya but I think I love the picture of you wearing it even better.
ReplyDeleteWhile on the subject of first aid and bandages. A really lovely patient of mine told me of a project she is doing that involves knitting bandages out of a special cotton fiber ( from Holland?) for people inflicted with leprosy. I am going to try to find out more about this and may post about it soon.
Take THAT, Anonymous! These are fantabulous!
ReplyDeleteA black cross on linen would have to b e Liane. This reminded me of her pillows right away! These are too cute maya! I actually just "borrowed" 2 bobby pins from sister recently, thinking I might try pinning my hair in a way that is different than the usual. This would definitely be different.
ReplyDeleteHello!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great fix for a Bad Hairday! :)Very funny! Yay to the ER of hairdoes!

ReplyDeleteWow! That is such a creative and fun idea! I love the style of your hairpin, beautiful and truly simple! I can't even imagine that there is a person who can come up with such a very unique style of hairpin. Nice job!
ReplyDeleteFor the Love of Pete Maya - you are genius, and way to take that comment and turn it into genius inspiration! Those bobbies are the bomb!! I love them - a great tongue in cheek way of dealing with bad hair days!
ReplyDeletejust a heads up- the American Red Cross is pretty protective of their trademarked logo. Not sure if they'd go after a home crafter, but just be careful- wouldn't want you to be hit with a lawsuit or something.
ReplyDeleteLove your blog!
Thanks everyone! Thanks for the advice, Janelle. My intention wasn't to sell this little clip... just to wear it when my hair was every which way!:)
