The May issue of Country Living just hit the newsstands. It is the most exciting issue of any magazine I've ever read... can you guess why? Page 42 is very special to me! Do you recognize that cork board? Or perhaps the pincushion? I was asked to contribute some of my burlap products for their round-up of feed sack items. Can you believe it? I certainly can't, and I've known about it for over three months!
I was thrilled then, but seeing it in print has put me on a cloud. Never in a million years did I think one year ago that I would be on this exciting ride today. I'm so grateful you're all here sharing it with me. It makes it that much more special. So I'm off to set some fireworks... I mean pour myself a glass of wine and read my magazine! I hope you have a wonderful weekend!
Congratulations, how exciting!!!
ReplyDeleteCONGRATS!!! that is fantastic. Will have to run and pick it up tomorrow!
ReplyDeleteTake care,
Tania
that is so exciting maya! hope you celebrate with a good glass of red. can't wait to see you in print!
ReplyDeleteI am so happy for you. The only thing more perfect would have been if my stone and your board had been in the same issue. My rock star and your star*board , together, imagine that. I think a few stars in the sky would implode if that happened. I just realized staring at your board that it has maya written on it. How utterly perfect is that.
ReplyDeleteWow! That's amazing, I'll have to keep my eyes open for a copy. Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteFabulous Miss Maya! I can't wait to go pick up my own copy and sneak a peek...
ReplyDeleteThat is awesome. I'm so pleased for you!
ReplyDeleteMaya I am so excited for you, and with you! I will be looking for this magazine when we go in for shopping this week. And what Margie noticed... cafe Maya on the board! Ah! How amazing! That would be a cafe I would certainly visit. xo

Super congrats! The first time my journals were in a magazine, I didn't know and saw them when I was getting a pedicure. I yelped in excitement and the poor lady who was doing my nails thought she had cut me. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm so excited for you in so many ways, Maya. Your coffee sack repurposing is so much what Country Living should be about: caring for your family and the planet by making the most of the materials at hand. I'm so glad that the design world is recognizing your talent and ingenuity, and all the love that you put into your work! Enjoy the celebration! I'm sure there will be more to come!

ReplyDeleteI've been meaning to tell you for a couple of months that our new local coffee shop has a menu board made with a large coffee sack. They've bordered it with a ~4" border of coffee beans (glued on and shellacked), and I think of you every time I go in there.
That's fantastic! It doesn't surprise me at all that they would ask you with all the wonderful things you make.
