give-away :: LOVE

Remember the HOPE I grew? It bloomed and turned into LOVE! Amazing how that happens. I wanted to give my LOVE away with some seeds so that you could plant your own. As a little Valentine's Day present, I will randomly choose one reader to receive a box filled with four cans covered in these burlap "slip covers" spelling out the word LOVE. The box will also contain grass seeds for planting your own winter greenery. Last year I planted buckets and buckets of grass, and I can attest to the happiness growing something green can bring. I'll tuck in a couple of handmade Valentine's for you to give or keep.


So, if you'd like to have a chance to be sent a heart-filled box, please leave a comment about something or someone you love. This is not a test... you will not be graded (nor judged) on your answer... whether it be greasy fried onion rings or a Shakespearean sonnet... share something that you love. I'll close the give-away at Midnight EST on this Tuesday and announce the receiver on Wednesday morning. I'm happy to send LOVE anywhere in the world, so no worries about international shipping! I'll get us started... I love how good it feels to share (and I do love onion rings, too!)

    I love the way my cat Frosty starts to purr when I talk to her. I love my mum. I love the smell of coffee. I love it when light hits freshly fallen snow and makes it sparkle like diamonds on white velvet. I love having a total stranger smile and say 'hello' (common thing in this little town).     The ring thing reminded me that I love RABAS (they are rings of calamar meat, covered with flour or grated bread and fried). Yum...!

    I love twilight (just started it!), curling up under a blanket with ANY good book, craft blogs (so inspiring!), my hubs, my kids, feeding my baby, sewing dresses for my 2 year old, coffee (!!!!), the days my kids nap without fighting, my family (because who needs friends when you have sisters! Okay, friends are good, too), and I love hearing "the wind blew in hot from the desert that summer- only the oleander could survive" (hope I quoted that right, I did it from memory) because it means either my favorite movie is on or I'm reading my favorite book (and hearing voices). I could go on, but I won't.

    Oh, and 2 reasons I shouldn't win this giveaway- I already won something this week (won a moby wrap!), and I do NOT have a green thumb.

    Thank you Maya for making this so easy! There are so many things that I love. But the number one thing on my list, is my dad. My dad has always been the type of person who has never said much or showed any affection. He pretty much always kept to himself. So while growing up, I never thought my dad loved me. But a year ago I very sick and finally saw that my dad did have it in him to show affection. I remembered when the doctor came into my room and gave me the bad news. I laid there on the hospital bed and cried. My dad walked over, took my glasses off and wiped away my tears with his hands and told me that everything is going to be okay. Well I'm still here. I thank god everyday for giving my such a caring dad. Without his love and support, I would not be here today.

    p.s. Thank you for inspiring me with your wonderful ideas. My paperwhites have also started to bloom.

    There are so many things I love right now. As I turn around I see my cat Nicki-enormous love there. My family-I love them & am lucky to have them. They are often my inspiration and lately I have been inspired more and more by my grandfather who passed away about 40 years ago but whose wisdom lives on. I also love...silkscreen! I just got home from a day spent at a school, printing up a new cut paper design onto paper and mylar. I spent 5 hours straight printing and have brought home some things to hang and dry and what I really love about it all is -the mystery and surprise of it all. I love seeing how colors overlap and interact. I make mainly monoprints and there is very little planning so printing is like making jazz music and following the flow-never quite knowing where it will all ultimately go. Thanks for the lovely inspiration you provide to so many !

    Oh how beautiful!

    Well for starters, I love this blog and all the amazingly creative projects that you post. I love the fabulously supportive blogging community that I've found in the last year. I absolutely love all the wonderful friends I've met in the last year, and lastly I love my husband who surprised me with a champagne-laden breakfast today, followed by a hike along the beach and my favorite yogurt after the walk. Lots to love and be thankful for.

    I love seeing the excitment of my 8 month old daughter as she masters crawling and standing she is so proud of her accomplishments! I love how my 3 year old is so nurturing with her sister and think what an amazing little person she is! And I love how my husband eyes still sparkle when he looks at me!

    I love the memories of dropping off Valentine treats with my family as a child. We did the knock and run method and we were only caught once - to my knowledge. I miss dropping them off to my Grandmother, she's been gone for 15 years now- oh I miss her so!

    I don't know if other people do this, but I have continued the tradition with my kids. We bake the treat together, package them up, and do the big drop off-usually on Valentine's Day!

    I love to see their faces light up as they continue my family traditions!

    My daughter is my love - I wish I could share some of that love with a special someone of the opposite sex but I guess there must be a very good reason why he has not arrived yet.

    I love setting out in the morning after waking up in a foreign city. Every detail of the world is so crisp and there is so much promise of adventure and the unplanned. The air smells unfamiliar and the sounds of the town--the engines, the birds, the voices in another language--greet you on the sidewalk. And you remember, ah, this is what I want at home. This feeling of being alive and opened to my world! What a gift.
