celebrate!
I started maya*made one year ago today! This has definitely been the most artistically creative year of my life. I know this blog and the wonderful community I've discovered through it has been my greatest source of inspiration and motivation. I would not have been nearly as prolific, nor as daring without your support and encouragement... really, you mean so much to me!! So to honor this first blogaversary, I'm having two give-aways this week! Today I present the first give-away: my largest burlap bucket with w.i.p. stenciled on the front. I know how creative you all are, so I figured you needed and extra big place for your works in progress.
Oh look! I tucked some fun things inside...
One friend will be receiving: a burlap bucket, a burlap pincushion, a barn swallow Moleskine, and my new favorite sachet...
printed with an Indigo Bunting and filled with organic lavender...
So if you'd like a chance to have me send this to your doorstep, please leave a comment between now and Thursday at midnight EST. I'd love to hear how and/or when you found me or maybe one of your favorite posts from this past year. There's no obligation, a simple "hello" will get you entered into the drawing. I'll announce the winner on Friday morning and share the next give-away, which will be child focused. Thanks for joining me in my celebration!
*A little note about that candle: it has been lit for every family birthday needing a one in it since my first child was born.
Happy first birthday maya*made. It's been a pleasure to share this year with you & I look forward to many more birthday celebrations.
ReplyDeleteThank you Maya.
xx
I honestly cannot recall where I first saw you linked, but am glad I found youa s I love to see what yuou are up to - so inspiring with your creativity. Happy 1st birthday
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday! Isn't it amazing how much can be done in just a year? I have so enjoyed your blog - it is happy and beautiful and I can't believe I only just (like last month) found it. Thank you for the giveaway and for the gorgeous pictures of the projects that have kept you happy and us in awe.
ReplyDeleteYour passion for you shows through in the natural beauty of what you make!!! Happy first birthday!
ReplyDeleteHappy Bloggy B-Day! I first came across your blog when you were starting to show pictures of the barn. It sucked me in and I'm so glad to be around all these months. I rarely comment, but always read and am endlessly inspired. Cheers!
ReplyDeleteI can't remember where I found you, but for the last month or two (or more?) I've been enjoying your blog!
ReplyDeleteHappy blog-birthday! I've been following along with you for 6 months or so, have no idea what brought me to you in the 1st place - perhaps some other blog mentioning your barn?
ReplyDeleteFelicitations !!! Happy 1st anniversary. I found you via my neighbour extraordinaire, Sharilyn's blog. LOVE your bags and stuff! Happy spring too, Susanna
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday! I think that I found you on a link from design mom, and I've been enjoying your blog ever since.
ReplyDeleteYour blog is so great and I love those burlap totes!! I found your blog when I was searching for ideas for my son's art corner-yours is fabulous!! Thanks for this great chance!!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on one year! I love your blog...I can't remember how I stumbled in here but I'm a regular for sure now!
ReplyDeleteI first found you by connecting to your blog through a post I saw on sfgirl about the grass you grew in the galvanized buckets. The first time I linked to your post I spent over an hour poking around. I've actually started a blog of my own recently as a way of sharing my "craftiness" and creative pursuits with others. I moved to Washington state from California almost two years ago when I married my husband, so the blog helps keep my family and friends back in CA in touch with what I'm up to. Your blog was definately part of my inspiration. I especially love your burlap bags. I found a coffee roaster near where I live that gives away their coffee sacks. I'm dying to get a free day soon to start turning them into fun bags and such. If I didn't live on the opposite coast I'd love to come over for your coffee sack workshop! Thank you for sharing your creativity!
ReplyDeleteI just recently found your blog -- your burlap bags were featured on another blog and I fell in love immediately! So I would love the chance to win a wip bag for myself (I definitely need the big size ;). Congrats on your first blogiversary!
ReplyDeleteHappy, happy anniversary! Oh, how I would love to win this beautiful set of goodies you've made! How very special...just like the stories and memories you've shared of your hero, your grandmother. My great-grandmother was the hero in our family, and we still tell stories of her all the time. We're planning on having a huge celebration to honor what would have been her 100th birthday next year! Here's to more happy celebrating and many more wonderful memories shared. Cheers!
ReplyDeleteHi..I just found your blog today! Wow! I really loved your post on the burlap Bulletin board. I have an inspiration board and it definately needs a redo..I may have to "lap-nap" that idea..:0) I would love to be in on your drawing.. I will be a faithful follower.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday! I stumbled upon your blog via The Crafty Crow (stone dolls) and have been a daily lurker since! I have followed your path and am working with recycled coffee bags(making market and messenger style bags for family and friends). Thank you so much for sharing!
ReplyDeleteI first saw your blog featured on the Crafty Crow last summer and I've been following you ever since. I love your beautiful work!
ReplyDeleteW.I.P. not R.I.P, even if some projects seem to rest for longer than you might hope!
ReplyDeleteI stumbled upon your site from a link at lovelydesign...
What a lucky twist of fate that brought me to your blog just a few months ago when I first entered the world of blogging. I have always been an artistic person, but haven't pursued such venues since High School. Each time I visit you make me want to do something creative that day. Your spirit and talent inspire me daily and I thank you so much for all the work you put into your blog. Congratulations on your one year anniversary and cheers to many more to come!
ReplyDeleteHappy One!
ReplyDeleteAmazing how this has taken off for you! I think I found you through Blogging Molly...or maybe I found her through you. Can't recall (my word verification below is 'recal'). I'm glad I'm here, though!
Happy Blog birthday, I just found your blog today! Looking forward to reading it further.
ReplyDeleteYay! Happy 1st blogiversary. I found your blog a few months ago when I was looking for fun craft blogs to inspire my creativity. I'm so glad I found your blog! It's definitely provided me with some great ideas and inspired me to create in my own unique way.
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday! I think I found you on the Crafty Crow, but I'm not sure... It was almost a year ago, though, and I've been enjoying your blog ever since. You have great ideas, and my favorite part of the year was right around when you opened your Etsy shop. It was very inspiring! I love seeing bits of your process and the evolution of your projects. I love this blog! Keep it up!!!
ReplyDeleteHappy Blogaversary! I think it was a couple months ago that I found you, probably through a referral of another blog, or Whip Up or Craft or something. So, not super-helpful, I know. I love your pictures and projects and down-to-earth attitude. I would love to win your give-away! I love those burlap sacks!
ReplyDeleteHappy anniversary! Found you in December. I don't know how, though I'm glad I did. I love your work.
ReplyDeleteKatie
Maya, I don't quite remember how I found your blog (but I did try to track back on your posts, because I do clearly remember all of what I have read here!) and by that, I know that it was sometime in October. I wish I had found you sooner! As for a favorite post, I don't think I could choose one in particular. What comes to mind and brings me back here though, is the quality of what you share and the way that you share it. Your enthusiasm is so refreshing and sincere. I appreciate the loving, down to earth approach you take with your children, and that you share that approach with others. You are just generally, all-around appreciated!!!
ReplyDeleteHappy blogaversary Maya! It's funny; Just before I visited your blog tonight, I was emailing a friend, telling him that my 1 year etsy-versary was coming up in a few days :)
The fact that you have used that "1" for all these years... that is so cool!!
xo

Hmm... Maya came up in my cards this morning!
ReplyDeletedear maya! happy first blog-birthday!
ReplyDeletei am from vienna/austria and have been reading your blog for about half a year now.
your creativity and the things you make really inspire me and make me "feel the urge to craft" myself. i think my favourite entries here are your posts about freezer paper stencil printing - i am planning to "refurbish" a few skirts and t-shirts with this technique as soon as spring comes. too bad that freezer paper is very hard to get over here, so i am checking out my alternatives ;-)
so keep on blogging - i'm looking forward to your upcoming projects and your refreshing ideas!
*julia
gorgeous! thanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI just.... found You:) And I'm so glad for it. Love Your "spring-birdy" creations. Happy Birthday maya*made!
ReplyDeleteMaya, congratulations on one beautiful and successful year. I am not sure the exact time I first saw Maya Made but do remember it was before September because I commented to win a different giveaway of yours only to tell you that I was having a giveaway too...then you won mine! You know the rest of the story!
ReplyDeleteI can't remember how I found you but I just can't get enough! You have inspired me to just create... something.. anything.. just give it all a go. So thank you!!
ReplyDeleteOne year, I can hardly believe you haven't been blogging for at least ten years with the level of art and craftsmanship in each and every post. You are one of my favorite morning reads, a group of only about half a dozen. I am wracking my small brain to remember how I discovered you but I think it was that Patricia discovered me through Elsita and then you discovered me through Patricia and then well you know the rest of the story. It would be amazing to draw a mind map of these connections one day.
ReplyDeleteHello and happy first birthday! I am a recent reader, and I discovered your blog through a link, I think to the post about covering bulletin boards with fabric.
ReplyDeleteHappy first birthday! I found your blog when I was googling for ideas to make some birthday bunting for my daughters 1st birthday party. I loved your newpaper bunting, but I wanted a fabric version. You inspired me to make it from some gorgeous reclaimed fabrics found at my local op shop and it was just perfect. Ive been a regular lurker here ever since. You are a constant source of inspiration and your posts always bring a happy glow to my day!
ReplyDeleteNic xxx

ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday! I had to comment, not only because the WIP bag is exactly what I need to get my winter to spring creative butt in gear, but to let you know how much reading your blog means to me. :) With 2 fairly new gorgeous Ethiopian daughters, I have had NO time for me so reading your blog late at night when the cherubs are asleep is like catnip to this creative gal. I have lived craftily through you and your exploits at maya*made. Thanks for all you are and do! Keep it up!

Maya, I was introduced to your blog by a good friend and left my first post ever to a blog yesterday. I love your blog because it calls me to a simpler life where beauty can come from the most common of materials made with our own hands and there is so much satisfaction and joy in that. I'm a mother, nature-lover, bird watcher, and a knitter. I look forward to continuing to get inspired by your ideas. Thanks for sharing. -Sarah

ReplyDeleteHappy Bloggaversary! I only found your blog a couple months ago, but am so inspired by all the beautiful things you make. The burlap sacks are just gorgeous, and I've tried to copycat a couple in my own home. I did the garlic holder, and made a very small bucket for my onions to rest in.
ReplyDeleteThanks for all the cool ideas! I'd love to see more of your stamp making projects. I was going to buy an eraser today, but didn't know which kind would hold up well for stamp carving.
I put you on my google reader when I saw the newspaper snowflakes! I think it was through Crafty Crow. I love the burlap and you are doing incredible things with the stamps! Happy Birthday!

ReplyDeleteMaya, Happy Blog Birthday. I came here from a site that featured your newspaper bunting. I love trying your craft projects with my kids, particularly because I never have to run to the store for special items. I love how you use and reuse everything so beautifully. I also enjoy just reading because I am envious of the beautiful love between you and your mom, and I would love to cultivate this with my own kids - perhaps through creating together!
