On that note, let's make simple flower bouquets. Fill vases... give in bunches... stick in lapels... paper flowers made from hearts couldn't be easier, couldn't be sweeter.
Before you start, you might want to consider making up a batch of hearts from recycled materials. Remember how crazy I went with my heart potato stamp?
I've been using these hearts on everything, including having a basket of them at my daughter's art table... ready for her inspiration.

These are lovely!
ReplyDeleteI know that feeling about not having enough time alone as a couple...
Last year we managed to reserve monday afternoons (though it's not the same as nights, I know) to go to the movies or grab a cup of coffee at a bar with Oz, the two of us alone. And every now and then we get Ale (the super sweet lady who helps us with the house cleaning every now and then too) to stay at night for a couple of hours or a bit more, to go out by night (there IS a special "dating atmospere at night). Particularly we do this when we have concerts to attend (our very favorite thing is music so...). Over the next month we have tickets to THREE CONCERTS!!! Alanis Morrisette, Radiohead and... PETER GABRIEL!!! (I am excited, they are three of my favorites too.)
Anyway, I am glad you could make it too. Keep on!
Oh, those heart flowers are great! Maya, you are so creative! Also love the button on hearts on the skirt!
ReplyDeleteLovely, Maya! Saved a free newspaper that they threw on our doorstep...now to find a minute to make something out of it...
ReplyDeleteAdore the potato stamp!
These are so cute....I am going to try making them with my 7th and 8th graders this week. (we always make tissue paper flowers for mother's day, so this will be a good Valentine's project!) they love doing what I call "craft time". Thanks for the idea!
ReplyDeleteI feel like it is my duty, since they have no art classes anymore! (I teach science)
I saw your pictures when i took a short break for lunch at work today. I think they are so absolutely gorgeous. I especially love the ones with the parts laid out , definitely inspirational to me. You just get better and better all the time. I wish I had more time to devote to making my blog posts look as lovely as yours. I used to read Danny Seo's blog regularly ( I don't know why I stopped, it seemed like he was getting a little too commercial) and I remember a post he did about making paper flowers from the perfume inserts in magazines. I think your are so much better.
ReplyDeleteYou're idea is so cute, I love potatoe-stamp !!
ReplyDeleteThanks to share all you're creativity in a so simple way. I live in France and come once a month and really enjoy it !
oh wow! crazy serendipity! i posed this project yesterday too! Happy Valentine's Day! :)
ReplyDeleteI love the inspiration shot. These are really lovely Maya.
ReplyDeleteThis looks awesome. I'm going to get the kids to help me make one for granma.
ReplyDeletei like these a lot!
ReplyDeletei was thinking you could even write a loving/sweet/up-lifting/etc. sentence on the back of each petal!
i might try that :D
I absolutely loved these but had a difficult time keeping the petals in place.
ReplyDeletethanks everyone for the flower love! If you have a hard time keeping the petals in place, make sure you scrunch those buttons in place... I even bent the wire just a tiny bit on the newspaper ones. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteThis is all sooo fabulous Maya!
ReplyDeletelovely! i like your simple ideas! thanks!
ReplyDeleteThank you again for the inspiration! My husband and son made these for me for Valentine's Day! Check out my post today to see them... www.securityville.blogspot.com.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much!!!
Delightful! My daughter and I were going to make egg carton flowers for her pre-K teacher for Valentine's day...this just took it to a whole other level! Half our bouquet used Valentine pencils for the stems. Miss Suzanne loved her flowers. Thanks for the inspiration!
