listening

 Hello from my busy studio! I'm cutting, sewing and printing in between lots of other projects. The Squam Art Fair is coming up quickly, and I'm gearing up. Linen, canvas and burlap goods are stacking up by my sewing machine... that always makes me smile!
As I work, I've been listening to Elizabeth Gilbert today. First came her most recent TED talk and then the latest interview on Sounds True. I've also been catching up on Abby Glassenberg's series, but Typepad is temperamental today. If you've listened to something inspiring recently please do share in the comments. Hope you have a productive start to your week!

  4. I've been listening to Elizabeth Gilbert's new book, The Signature of All Things: A Novel.... REALLY enjoying it! (and at 21+ hours long there is ALOT of time for crafting!)

  5. By some miracle or mistake I have been accepted as a vendor this year too. This post sounded very familiar to me as I have been sewing like crazy and hitting the audiobooks. I just finished listening to Sal'vage the Bones by Jesmyn Ward - a MUST read. It was so, so good. Now I'm working through What is the What by Dave Eggers. And all this because I don't think that there are any This American Life episodes left that I haven't heard 3 or 4 times:)

    Have you heard Sylvia Boorstein on "On Being"? It's a couple years old called, "What We Nurture" and it is so beautiful.

    Happy sewing Maya, see you soon!

  6. Hi Maya! I listen to a lot of podcasts (Abby's included)... here are some of my favourites:

    - Desert Island Discs (a BBC radio programme, quite British-centric but INCREDIBLY interesting and humane);
    - After the Jump (Grace Bonney from Design*Sponge);
    - A Taste of the Past (culinary history);
    - Thread Cult (all about textiles);
    - Modern Sewciety (quilting industry);
    - The Lively Show (living with intention, interviews with lots of bloggers);
    - Stuff you missed in History class (History, wide range of themes).

    Enjoy!
