Earth Day Give-Away!

There are many shades of green along the spectrum of eco-awareness. Every day we have many opportunities to choose a path of lessening our impact on the planet. Each choice we make to take care of our HOME  is valuable  and  significant. Even within our comfort zone, I bet there are more things we can each do to make a smaller footprint. I encourage you to name those things  (quietly to yourself is just fine) and even stretch beyond that comfortable place, and look for new ways to go green beyond Earth Day...

I am offering a give-away to honor those choices small and big that we already make... and to celebrate the new earth conscious choices we hope to embrace in the near future. I'd be delighted to hear about them, but it's not mandatory... all comments will be entered into the drawing.
-a clothespin bag to bring joy and intention to the lovely act of clothesline drying...
-a thick and absorbent dish towel that will inspire you to put those paper towels aside...
-a hand printed notebook to write down your thoughts and dreams on 100% recycled paper

Please leave a comment between now and Saturday at 5pm EST. I'll happily ship any where on the planet, so international friends are quite welcome!  The winner will be announced on Sunday Morning.

Happy Earth Day... today and every day!

  1. Using wine bottles as decor around the house instead of buying new candleholders - - soon our house will be filled with wine bottles! :)

  2. What a lovely giveaway, and so thoughtful. We actually just sold our remaining car and now get around via bike or our own two feet.

  3. What a wonderful giveaway!!! One thing I do consistently is to bring my own shopping bags with me when I go grocery shopping. It's such a small thing, but I love doing it! :) Thank you for the opportunity.

  4. i only use fabric bags when shopping for anything and recycle all my paper, cardboard, and plastic. i also don't throw away any fabric/thread bits but add them to the growing pile in a bag to use as stuffing for a future doggie bed.

i want to make more cloth napkins and place mats for my house and for my mum!

  5. Oooh, I just Love this bag. We have planted a small garden this year in a re-purposed kiddie pool. I've also been sewing a la Maya*made. I made pillows using coffee sacks. I'm also going to be making some inside covers for our sky lights which put out a little too much heat in the summer.

    Thanks for all the inspiration.

  6. Such a lovely give away! Our family lives by reduce~reuse~recycle! We use cloth napkins with every meal, cloth towels instead of paper, strive for a no trash lunch for the kiddos, and line dry our clothing :o)That adorable clothes pin bag would come in handy right about now!
    Thanks!

  7. Oh how lovely! I wish we could have a clothesline in our subdivision. The rules these days are so silly and stifling.

We do lots of cloth around here: diapers, wipes, napkins, mama pads, etc. One small change that I would like to pursue is to compost. We still need to lay out our veggie garden, but after that I definitely want to compost. :)

  8. Hello from San Francisco--
I have been hanging my laundry out for years, and recently my neighbor told me she enjoys seeing our laundry because the colors of all the clothes together look so nice. So, another reason for sorting by color -- artistic laundry lines! Thanks for the chance to win your beautiful creations!

  9. I love all your nature-inspired projects. You're so talented. I have a 'neglected basket' too that I hope to thin out this weekend - this would be a good 'earth friendly' project to do instead of throwing stuff away.
    Thanks for all your inspirations.

  10. I try to reuse and recycle whenever possible and use eco-friendly cleaning supplies and detergents. Though I still use more paper towels than I like, I started cleaning with rags made from old t-shirts (ones that couldn't be refashioned).

    Love your blog!

  11. We've been using cloth diapers off and on with our daughter who is now two, but I am committed to sticking to it with the arrival of my newest child. He is only a month old and I would like him to start off with the smallest footprint. So far, so good.

  12. We signed up for a CSA fruit share this year, from the farm just down the road. We are excited to be helping to support the farm, as well as getting all kinds of fresh, yummy fruit each week!

  13. Urban community gardening, starting a compost bin in our small urban space, bringing cloth bags everywhere and trying to buy things that don't come wrapped in plastic.

Thanks for the inspiration and the giveaway!

  14. What a generous giveaway! The clothespin bag would be perfect to go with the new washline that I am pretty sure will be making its way to me for Mother's Day. A family vegetable garden, composting, less plastic and paper consumption... just a few of the ways we are trying to make a difference.

  17. We are working on eating locally. Although difficult with small children, our first step will be to freeze and can as much local produce as we can this summer in preparation for the winter months.

  18. My hubby and I are trying to reduce our footprint where ever we can, it can sometimes be hard but so definitely worth it in the long run :)
Love your clothes peg bag, it's better than my broken plant pot that I'm using for sure!

  19. I've started knitting dishclothes...I love using something I made every day and it's a handy project to turn to anytime I have a chance to sit down (ha! maybe tha's why it takes so long to make one...I only get a row or two done each night before my eyelids start closing!)
Thanks for the chance at your lovelies!

  24. thanks for the great giveaway! I sew as much as I can, mending and refashioning old clothes for my kids and myself, gardening/composting, cloth diapering, I'm crazy strict on recycling and we ride our bikes as much as we can to get groceries and do errands.

  25. We do so many things that I won't list all that here (hmmmm, wonder what shade of green we are...grass green? kelly green? I like those) but what I HAVEN'T done yet at our new house is put up a clothesline! I hereby solemnly swear if I win I will get it up right away. If I don't win, well I'll still get it up...but probably not as fast or with as much giddy excitement. :)

  26. I'm moving in 3 weeks, and I'm super excited to put some "green" things into practice that I haven't been able to do in my current house. Composting and line-drying my clothes are at the top of my list!

  27. I absolutely love the notebook, well, wait! I love them all. I've downsized homes & I am living small. Despite this, I still dry my clothes on the balcony, do the dishes by hand, make environmentally friendly choices each day. For example, I needed storage in the new house this week, so I decoupaged large old tins someone gave me. Voila! New storage and no plastic in sight. This year, I want to switch to friendlier cleaners. I love your blog!
